Manipulated weather forecasts

What if weather forecasts are sometimes manipulated to reduce how many people come to an outdoor gathering?

Volodemort Zelensky’s “Servant of the People” TV show has a scene in which the government suppresses a growing protest by warning citizens about a meteorite heading straight for Kiev.

Buskers with speakers

I have a subconscious and instinctual, but perhaps irrational distrust for buskers with speakers.

2023, the number

2023 = (2 + 0 + 2 + 3) × (2² + 0² + 2² +3²)².

2023 = 7 × 17 × 17. 71717 is a palindrome.

2023 + 2022 + 2021 = 6066.

Just one

Life hack: own just one plate, bowl, mug, glass, tablespoon, and teaspoon to never procrastinate on washing them.

Ghost inflation at the supermarket

How many times in the recent past have you caught the cashier’s price being higher than on the tag?

Me: too many, both in Russia and in Italy.

25

The number 25 has a magical appearance. 2 plus 5 equals 7, my lucky number. And, of course, 25 is 5².

No wonder Christmas is on the 25th.

No audio on 2017 MacBook Pro running Linux

Set on avoiding Apple telemetry, I wiped my 2017 Touch-Bar-free 13″ MacBook Pro and installed Artix Linux on it.

The notebook performed well on macOS, yet Linux managed to give it a boost: it never heated up and thus its fans never ran, while the battery lasted longer and charged faster.

However, there was a catch: no audio. I spent weeks scouring for a solution and applying found patches, all to no avail. I then began to program a solution myself, only to realise that it was not a worthwhile task.

macOS returns, for now.
